1870-1871 Franco Prussian War Service Medal
This is a war service medal for one of the great conflicts of the modern era, which altered the European State forever. Otto Von Bismarck basically goaded the French into a war, but he was already organised for it and beat them badly in about 4 months. The French that lost the war had to pay massive reparations to Bismarck. What Bismarck did was use the threat of France to convince the four lower states of an un - unified Prussia to join him in a united Prussian defence, and for the first time in History Germany was a unified nation. Smart cookie Von Bismarck. This medal is for service on the Prussian side during this war. Try and find another one. It is in mint condition, framed under glass.
