A 1st Prize Award Painted by Col Geoffrey Matthews 10th Bn AIF
This is an Original oil Painting done by Colonel Geoffrey Matthews (1910-1987) who was a member of the 10th Battalion AIF, and the 9th Battalion AMF during the second World War. Colonel Matthews kept a daily diary of the war where he was stationed in Europe, Africa, Egypt, and New Guinea. This Diary is on Display at the Australian War Memorial. He painted this painting and it was made the first prize for a Raffle at Woodside in Adelaide in 1988. It is Titled "Evening Shadows". Our vendors mother won the prize and has had it ever since. It measures 51cm wide by 41cm high, it comes with the letter of notification on 10th Battalion Letterhead. A good piece with good provenance.
