A British Issue Medal to Commemorate India's Independance
On August 15th 1947 India seceded from the British Empire. This medal was instituted by King George VIth in 1950 to commemorate this Independence, and was awarded to members of the Indian Armed forces, and the British personnel who served during and after the independence ceremonies. The recipient of this medal is engraved on the medal edge and his name was Harnam Singh. It has its original ribbon.
