Description:

A Japanese Officers WWII Dress Sword w/ Provenance !!
Our Vendors father, George Charles Soltan, was in the Australian Army during WWII until 1956.  He served in Australia... then the British Commonwealth Occupation Forces (BCOF). (The BCOF were formed after the formal surrender of Japan and comprised personnel from the armed forces of Australia, New Zealand, India and the United Kingdom. BCOF's primary role was to ensure that the terms of the unconditional surrender of Japan were met. Australian BCOF personnel were involved in various services, including food and water supplies, communication, transport, and the military police. The headquarters were based in Kure, western Japan.)

Now back to our Vendors Father. He was assigned to be a driver to a US Army General on the ground in occupied Japan. After 2 years serving as his driver the General had become very fond of our Vendors Father and upon the Generals end of service, he gifted him this rare Japanese Officers Dress Sword he had procured from a Japanese Officer at their surrender.

This sword we are selling, check out all the pics, including the original fish grip handle and especially the sheath featuring the bronze repousse Cherry Blossom Flower relief. Note the gold leaf gilding on the guard. Raise your sights here folks this is a very good Military Artefact with Provenance !

It measures 87cm long

Service for Australian personnel extended from 13 February 1946 to 28 April 1952.
