A Luftwaffe Bombing Navigational Octant 1942 - Rare !!
This is a very nice example of a German WWII Luftwaffe Libellen - Oktant mit Mittlungseinrichtung (Spirit Level - Octant with Averaging Device), complete with its original Custom Timber Chest. An octant is a sight navigation device used during bombing runs to help keep an accurate course.

There is a data plate on the octant, however the maker is not marked, and may have been removed post war. It does show the Gerät-Nr. (Device Number) 127-134 B-2 and Werk-Nr. (Plant Number) 92815, as well as the Luftwaffe designation for this device, Fl. 23750. It comes with several different attachments, and a power adapter for connecting to the bombers electrical system. There are spare bulbs in the holder, and the transit chest is an absolute cabinet makers specialty and measures 32cm by 22cm and 14cm deep (front to back). It still closes perfectly with working latches, and all of the internal compartments and padding seem to be intact. All of the original dark Luftwaffe blue gray exterior paint is intact, making this a very impressive display piece. We do not know if it still functions, as we have no way to test it. But there are quite a few spare parts and this looks in excellent condition. Probably hasnt been used since its last bombing raid in 1945.

piece of German aviation history, ready to display! And that reserve is ridiculously cheap... As a bit of side provenance... our Vendor befriended a German Living in a Hut on one of the outer islands in Papua New Guinea in 1963. He was a German. Turns out he was a Luftwaffe Bomber and after the war split to Asia. This was his Octant and he gave it to our vendor as a gift. This is genuine provenance ... but not written anywhere .....and no i do not know any more info.
