A Pair of Sumida Pottery Vases c1915 - Japanese
Sumida Gawa Pottery is a form of pottery manufactured in Japan in the late part of the 19th Century to the early 20th Century. They were called Sumida as the studio used water from the Sumida River to make their pieces. These are very modern designs for their time. These two pieces are in very good physical condition, some wear to the unglazed painted body but that really only adds to the charm and patina. These are being sold together, and measure approx 16cm high
