A Rare Italian .800 Silver Waffen Cap Set
In Sept 1943 after Otto Skorzeny rescued Mussolini from Captivity, there was an influx of some 15,000 Italians who joined the Waffen SS and were sent to the German Training Grounds at Munsingen. Cap sets like these were made by the Germans and presented to Italians who distinguished themselves in battle. This eagle holds the ancient fasces of Rome Symbol which is an axe enveloped in a bundle of Elm or Birch which signifies legal power and authority. Both pieces have the silver 800 mark, and the skull is fully marked to the back with RZM in a circle, with 499/41 below. This is a very rare set in excellent condition.
