Antique Bronze Betel Nut Ceremonial Bowl - 19th Century
This is a stunning 200 year old Betel nut bowl. The Betel nut was an important part of Asian Marriage Ceremonies. The betel nut represented the man and the betel leaf represented the woman, They were both combined in this bowl at weddings, and the Bride, Groom and parents of the bride and groom would eat them at the wedding. You can clearly see the age by the base, someone has rigorously polished the outside of the bowl so it looks a little shiny but this is a genuine piece.
It measures 17cm Diameter by 10cm high
