Flight Officer Norman Gampe OAM - Next 10 Lots are from His Estate
Norman Gampe is a Genuine Australian War Hero. He was the flight officer for Squadron 619 that flew Lancaster bombers during WWII. Norms Squadron was the back up for squadron 617 (who were famously known as the Dam Busters), and Norm was the lead Bomber for The Famous successful Berchtesgaden Bombing (which was Hitlers home) in April 1945. The war ended in May 1945 and right through to December Norm flew in and out of Germany rescuing Allied soldiers from war camps and returning them home. He was Awarded the Order of Australia in 1992, and also the French Legion of Honour, as well as a chest full of Campaign medals.
The next ten lots are all very rare WWII artefacts from the estate of Norm, and we would like to thank Norms wife, Margaret Gampe, for trusting us to honour Norms Legacy, and for providing us the detail we needed to accurately lot these artefacts.
