Description:

The Hungarian Liberation Medal 1938
During World War II, the Kingdom of Hungary was a member of the Axis powers. In the 1930s, the Kingdom of Hungary relied on increased trade with Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany to pull itself out of the Great Depression. Hungarian politics and foreign policy had become more stridently nationalistic by 1938, and Hungary began to incorporate ethnic Hungarian areas in neighboring countries into Hungary. This medal was awarded to Hungarian Soldiers that fought to liberate areas they called the Uplands in 1938. The Obverse of this medal reads "in Commemoration of the Liberation of the Hungarian Uplands 1938". This is a bronze medal, with what appears to be the wrong ribbon attached. This is a scarce and rare Hungarian Combat Medal.
